A color encoding system used for analog television, such as
NTSC and
PAL. The YUV color model represents the
human perception of color more closely than the standard RGB model used in
computer
graphics hardware.
In YUV,
Y is the luminance (brightness) component while
U and
V
are the chrominance (color) components.
