A
program installed to be
memory resident so that you can always
execute it by pressing a special
key, called a
hot key. When you press the hot key, the pop-up utility appears, regardless of which
application you are currently
running. When you exit the pop-up utility, the
system returns you to your previous program.
In DOS systems, pop-up utilities are also called TSRs.
